History of the Coin:
The Bust Capped Half Dollar was minted from 1807 to 1839 and was introduced by William Kneass, the second Chief Engraver of the US Mint. The obverse (front) design of this coin was a left-facing portrait of Liberty with curly hair tucked into a mobcap (a cap with a high, puffy crown) and she is surrounded by 13 stars which represent the original 13 colonies.
This coin ring predates the Civil War and is an heirloom quality piece of wearable history. We seek out and select this coin with sharp details so that all the lettering can be clearly read. This is one of the oldest coins we list here in our shop and we would be very happy to make this 150+ year old coin into a beautiful ring for you.
